We are sure you have heard lots of information about asbestos - was it fact or fiction? Are you worried you are doing what you need to be doing to address asbestos in your building(s)? Could you learn more about asbestos-containing materials and how to best or properly manage asbestos in your building(s)?  You do not want to miss this meeting. Michael Westerfield of Westech Environmental Solutions will provide the "need to know" information regarding asbestos within facilities.

SPEAKER BIO:

Mike Westerfield, CPG will be the presenter. He has more than 30 years of consulting experience specializing in the investigation, abatement and remediation of asbestos, lead-based paint, mold and subsurface contamination, and Brownfield assessments. 

Mr. Westerfield has conducted and managed numerous asbestos, lead-based paint and indoor-air assessments.  He has designed and written abatement bid-specifications and has conducted oversight of abatement activities to assure compliance with the specifications and applicable regulations.  Mr. Westerfield has prepared numerous AHERA asbestos management plans for public and private schools and school districts. He has designed abatement specifications and management the abatement activities during renovation and redevelopment of schools in Southwest Ohio, Southeastern Indiana and Northern Kentucky.  Mr. Westerfield is certified as a certified asbestos inspector, management planner and project designer in the states of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

Mr. Westerfield has conducted more than 280 underground storage tank (UST) closure assessments and 120 hydrogeologic site investigations to characterize and define the extent of contamination resulting from leaking USTs, petroleum bulk terminals, and industrial manufacturing operations. A large amount of Mr. Westerfield's recent experience has been providing assessment and remedial services to major oil companies, industrial and commercial developers and trucking companies with operations in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, Virginia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.  He has designed and implemented interim and long-term corrective actions at several sites.  Remedial designs included separate-phase product recovery, soil stabilization, soil flushing, soil vapor extraction, chemical oxidation, bioremediation and on-site passive aeration technologies.  Mr. Westerfield has conducted or supervised over 300 Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in most of the eastern United States.  Numerous sites have required Phase II assessments and corrective action activities as part of the due diligence activities related to property transfers.  Mr. Westerfield is a Certified Professional under the Ohio Voluntary Action Program (VAP), assisting several clients with obtaining Covenant-not-to Sue certifications.  Mr. Westerfield has also assisted other owners and developers of Brownfield properties in Indiana and Kentucky redevelop vacant or underutilized properties.
